1992The First Solo Unsupported Ski Expedition to the South Pole

A person in a blue winter jacket and white pants is pulling a sled across snowy terrain. They are wearing a white hat and gloves and using two ski poles to propel themselves forward.

In 1992, Norwegian explorer Erling Kagge completed the first solo unsupported journey to the South Pole.

Covering more than 1,300 kilometers across Antarctica without resupply, assistance, or outside support. Pulling his own sled through relentless winds, extreme cold, and endless white horizons, Kagge relied on determination, experience, and proven equipment – including Norrøna clothing and expedition gear.

The achievement was hailed internationally as one of the greatest feats in modern polar exploration and further cemented Norway’s proud legacy of exploration in the planet’s most remote and unforgiving environments.
