In 2013, Robert Caspersen, Ole Ivar Lied, and Trym Sæland completed a new variant of the legendary Exocet Route on Aguja Standhardt in Patagonia.
Set among the dramatic granite spires of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, the climb demanded technical excellence, commitment, and the ability to move quickly through some of the most unpredictable weather found anywhere in the mountains.
Climbing in lightweight alpine style and relying on Norrøna’s technical falketind apparel and mountain equipment, the team pushed through steep ice, mixed terrain, and challenging conditions to establish their variation on one of Patagonia’s most iconic objectives.
The ascent continued a proud tradition of Norwegian climbers operating at the highest international level and demonstrated how Patagonia remains one of the ultimate testing grounds for both alpinists and the equipment they depend on.
