In 2011, Bjørn-Eivind Årtun and Ole Ivar Lied completed the acclaimed Venas Azules Route on Torre Egger in Patagonia, one of the world's most iconic and demanding alpine climbing destinations.
Operating in the region’s notoriously unpredictable weather, the pair climbed in fast, lightweight alpine style on steep rock, ice, and mixed terrain.
The ascent attracted international attention and earned a nomination for the prestigious Piolet d'Or, recognizing it as one of the year's most significant mountaineering achievements.
Throughout the expedition, Årtun and Lied relied on Norrøna’s technical mountain apparel and equipment, continuing a long tradition of Norwegian climbers testing products in some of the most challenging environments on Earth.
The climb further established both alpinists among the leading practitioners of modern alpine climbing and reinforced Patagonia’s reputation as one of the ultimate proving grounds for the world's best mountaineers.
