In 1986, the Norwegian polar explorer and scientist Monica Kristensen led a Norwegian expedition to the South Pole, becoming one of the most prominent figures in a new generation of Norwegian polar exploration.
Traveling across the vast Antarctic plateau, the team faced extreme cold, powerful winds, and the immense isolation that has challenged explorers since the days of Amundsen and Scott.
Throughout the expedition, the team relied on Norrøna’s high-end cotton anoraks and pants, along with other expedition equipment developed for extended travel in polar environments.
The demanding Antarctic conditions provided an exceptional testing ground for the products, reinforcing Norrøna’s growing reputation among polar explorers and helping refine equipment designed to perform in some of the harshest conditions on Earth.
Kristensen’s expedition became another important chapter in Norway’s long polar tradition, and another example of how pioneering explorers helped shape the development of Norrøna’s expedition gear through real-world experience in the field.
