Review Summary
Updated October 13, 2026

The lofoten Primaloft80 Anorak is a highly versatile and beloved insulated jacket, primarily recommended for skiing (including touring, alpine, and freeriding) due to its exceptional warmth, ventilation, and layering capabilities in cold conditions.

Standout Features: Exceptional Warmth-to-Weight Ratio: Users consistently praise its ability to provide significant warmth (down to -15°C with layering, and even -23°C on ski trips) while remaining incredibly lightweight. Superior Ventilation: The anorak design is enhanced by strategically placed zippers, including long side zippers and underarm zips, making it easy to regulate temperature during high-output activities or when transitioning between indoors and outdoors. This also facilitates easy on/off. Comfort and Fit: Described as "super comfy," "cozy," and having a "lovely passform," the anorak offers a comfortable, often loose, yet flattering fit. Many appreciate its longer length, which covers the bum and thighs for added warmth and style. Versatile Use: While excelling in skiing, its features make it suitable for a wide range of activities, including hiking, biking (especially in winter), everyday wear, dog walking, and campervan trips. It's also noted for its windproof and water-resistant properties. Thoughtful Design: Features like deep, functional pockets (including one for glasses), a roomy and insulating hood, and stylish color options are frequently highlighted. It can also be worn as a mid-layer under a hardshell.

Common Use-Cases: The most frequently mentioned activity is skiing (including ski touring, alpine skiing, and freeriding), where its warmth, ventilation, and layering potential are highly valued. Beyond skiing, it's widely used for everyday wear, hiking, biking, and general outdoor activities in chilly or changing weather.

Fit and Comfort Level: The anorak is generally perceived as comfortable and roomy, allowing for layering underneath. While some find it true to size, others suggest it runs slightly large, with a few opting to size down for a tighter fit or up for more layering space. The "technical fit" mentioned in the size guide doesn't seem to translate to a restrictive feel, with many finding their normal size perfect. The side zippers significantly improve the ease of putting on and taking off an anorak-style jacket, addressing a common concern with this design.

Criticisms or Areas for Improvement: Durability: One user noted it's "super lightweight so not very robust," suggesting it might be delicate for very rugged use. Zipper Management: While the zippers are a major selling point, one reviewer found the side and upward zippers "a bit difficult to manage... with one hand." Ski-specific features: A minor criticism mentioned is the lack of a ski card pocket on the arm. Aesthetic Preferences: Some wished for more color options or an internal drawstring for a more feminine silhouette. Layering with Hardshell: One user noted that when worn under a Gore-Tex anorak, the Primaloft anorak might peek out at the front.

Recommendation: The lofoten Primaloft80 Anorak is highly recommended for anyone seeking a warm, lightweight, and incredibly versatile insulated jacket, particularly those who engage in skiing or other cold-weather outdoor activities. Its excellent ventilation and comfortable fit also make it ideal for everyday wear and transitional weather. It's perfect for individuals who value thoughtful design, easy temperature regulation, and a stylish yet functional piece that can adapt to various conditions and activities. While not the most robust option for extreme abuse, its overall performance and comfort make it a standout choice for a wide range of users.
