Polartec® Alpha® is the latest evolution of synthetic insulation offering a rare combination of lightweight warmth and true breathability in a "puffy" style garment. Because Polartec Alpha insulation is highly durable and more stable than other synthetic insulation products, more open-construction woven face and back fabrics can be selected to create an air permeable package. This small amount of airflow rapidly draws moisture away from the body and allows Polartec Alpha to be worn in a wider range of activities compared to classic "vapor barrier" style insulation.

This product has an extended back length, preventing it from sliding up
This product have a double zipper in front, which makes it possible to choose between having an open front with mesh, or to close the jacket as normal. When the zipper opening with mesh is used, the airflow into the jacket will be increased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For biking in cold conditions I have used this jacket during 1,5 years mainly for commuting to work, and for mountain biking in cold conditions (below 0°C). I typically would wear the full jacket on the way down in the morning, and stack the removable bolero in my backpack on the way up, with the additional front ventilation open. That makes it a rather versatile piece in the colder seasons. The warmth to weight ratio of this product is pretty impressive: the Alpha insulation really does a great job in keeping you warm when it is freezing. On the downside, I think that the jacket becomes really too warm as soon as the temperature raises above 5°C, and would rather recommend the fjørå warmflex for those "warmer" days!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great outer / mid-layer jacket for mountain biking and XC-skiing Been testing this jacket for a while now with fatbiking in the forest, commuting on fatbike to work and cross country skiing. I like this jacket a lot as it light, have a high neck, and a very soft inside fabric. The outer fabric is not completely windproof, so some air flows through the jacket. If you want more air to flow in, you can use the second zipper in front for that. There are also good visibility with reflex on all sides. Nice stretch at the end of the arms, and possible to adjust the lower waist. Backside of the jacket is a bit longer than the front, and have reflex on the bottom, which will be visible from behind also when wearing a backpack. Have not used it as a convertible yet.
