The Lofoten Gore-Tex Insulated Pants are highly praised for their performance in downhill skiing, with multiple reviewers specifically mentioning their satisfaction while using them on the slopes. They offer a comfortable fit, especially appreciated by those with thicker legs and narrower waists. The pants are lauded for their warmth and insulation, even in temperatures as low as -15°C, and provide excellent protection against wind and snow. The Gore-Tex material ensures waterproofing, while the overall design is considered stylish and functional, with convenient pockets.
While most users found the fit excellent, some found the length too short or too long, suggesting Norrøna might consider offering different lengths. A few reviewers also noted that the pants are cut to sit on the hips, which can lead to gapping at the back when sitting on a chairlift. One user expressed concern about the durability of the fabric after experiencing cuts and scratches from ski boots after only one use. Finally, while the insulation is generally praised, some reviewers who tend to get cold suggested that a thicker lining might be beneficial for colder climates, despite the "layer on layer" approach.
In conclusion: The Lofoten Gore-Tex Insulated Pants are highly recommended for downhill skiers seeking comfortable, warm, and weatherproof pants with a stylish design. They are particularly well-suited for those who appreciate a good fit, even with varying leg and waist proportions. However, those concerned about durability, particularly around the boots, or those who prefer a higher-waisted fit, may want to consider these points before purchasing. Those who are very sensitive to cold might also want to consider layering or look for a more heavily insulated option.
