The Norrøna /29 Flexfit Cap is a highly-regarded and versatile cap, consistently praised for its excellent fit and comfort. Many reviewers highlight the "perfect fit" and the Flexfit system, which ensures a snug yet comfortable feel, even for those with larger heads. The cap is also noted for its durability and high-quality construction, with several customers purchasing multiple caps over time due to their satisfaction. Its stylish and subtle branding makes it a popular choice, and the fabric is often described as having a "waxy" or "glossy" feel, contributing to its perceived quality and making it water-repellent or even "waterproof" to some extent, a significant advantage for many users.
The most frequently mentioned use-case for the /29 Flexfit Cap is everyday wear and casual use. Reviewers repeatedly state they wear it "every day," "all the time," and for "leisure time," often describing it as a "classic" or "all-round cap" suitable for "all occasions." Beyond daily wear, the cap is also highly recommended for hiking and outdoor activities, including mountain hikes, fishing trips, and even hunting. Its ability to withstand rain and stay on during "high-speed activities" like driving a boat further solidifies its outdoor utility.
While overwhelmingly positive, some criticisms and areas for improvement exist. A few users found the fit "a little tight," particularly those with larger heads (e.g., 7 5/8 or 59/60 cm), suggesting that while the Flexfit is generally good, it might not accommodate all head sizes perfectly. One reviewer noted that the material is "not very breathable," making it less ideal for hot summer days. Another significant criticism involved color fading or discoloration, with a black cap turning off-white on the brim and another cap's color changing in the sun, creating a yellow band. The "shiny" material/color was also a minor point of contention for one user, making it "less versatile" for their taste.
In conclusion, the Norrøna /29 Flexfit Cap is an excellent recommendation for individuals seeking a comfortable, durable, and stylish cap for everyday wear and a wide range of outdoor activities, especially hiking. Its water-repellent properties make it particularly suitable for unpredictable weather. It is best suited for those who prioritize a secure and comfortable fit and appreciate subtle, high-quality design. However, potential buyers with very large heads should consider sizing carefully, and those sensitive to color fading might want to opt for colors other than black or be mindful of prolonged sun exposure.
