In 1999, Norwegian climbers Robert Caspersen, Per Ludvig Skjerven, Gunnar Karlsen, and Einar Wold traveled to Pakistan’s Karakoram Range to attempt the first ascent of Trango Pulpit, one of the last great unclimbed granite walls in the Trango massif.
Equipped with Norrøna trollveggen clothing, backpacks, and expedition gear, the team spent weeks living on the wall and pushing through demanding big-wall terrain at high altitude.
The expedition continued a remarkable thread that stretched back to the historic 1984 Norwegian Great Trango Tower ascent, one of the defining moments in both Norwegian mountaineering and Norrøna’s expedition heritage.
Together, the two Trango expeditions helped cement the mountain range’s special place in Norrøna´s history – a story later brought to life for a new generation in the acclaimed Trango film documentary, released in 2025.
