In 2016, Robert Caspersen, Ivar Tollefsen, and Trond Hilde set a new speed record for crossing the Greenland Ice Cap on skis.
Traveling unsupported and hauling all their equipment themselves, the trio completed the 560-kilometer traverse in an astonishing 6 days, 22 hours, and 20 minutes, reclaiming a record that Tollefsen and Hilde had previously held.
The expedition demanded relentless effort, with the team skiing for up to 33 consecutive hours and navigating vast areas of meltwater, rivers, and ice-covered terrain near Greenland’s western coast.
Throughout the crossing, they relied on lightweight Norrøna expedition clothing specifically chosen to balance protection and speed in rapidly changing Arctic conditions.
More than a decade later, the crossing remains one of the most impressive speed achievements in polar travel.
