2023The Youngest Solo Unsupported Woman to the South Pole

A woman wearing a pink jacket, black gloves, a blue hat and sunglasses is smiling and holding a large, reflective, spherical object. The sphere is resting on a blue platform and reflecting the sky and the woman. Behind the woman, a pair of skis lay in the snow. The American and New Zealand flags can be seen in the background.

Norrøna ambassador Hedvig Hjertaker also made history by becoming the youngest woman in the world to ski solo to the South Pole.

Pulling all her supplies across the Antarctic ice cap and enduring weeks of isolation, extreme cold, and relentless headwinds, Hjertaker joined a proud Norwegian tradition of polar exploration.

Her achievement demonstrated that the spirit of exploration that inspired generations of adventurers – from Nansen and Amundsen to modern-day polar travelers – remains as strong as ever.
