In 2017, Robert Caspersen, Ivar Tollefsen, Ole Ivar Lied, and Trond Hilde returned to Antarctica with the goal of climbing Gessnertind, one of the remote and little-visited peaks of Queen Maud Land.
Continuing a long tradition of Norwegian exploration in Antarctica, the team ventured into one of the planet’s most isolated mountain regions, where extreme weather, logistical challenges, and vast distances remain constant obstacles.
While Antarctica does not always reward ambition with success, expeditions such as this continue the spirit of exploration that has long defined both Norwegian mountaineering and Norrøna’s product development philosophy: testing equipment where the conditions are toughest and the margins smallest.
