2010The Relaunch of the trollveggen and narvik Collections

In 2010, Norrøna relaunched the trollveggen and narvik collections, bringing two iconic product concepts into a new era of technical performance and design.

Inspired by the towering Troll Wall and the rugged mountains surrounding Narvik in Northern Norway, the collections combined decades of mountain experience with the latest advances in materials, construction, and functionality.

The relaunch reflected Norrøna’s commitment to continuously refining its most important product families while honoring the landscapes and adventures that originally inspired them.

1979The First Winter Ascent of Jubileum Wall
In Easter 1979, four Norwegian climbers completed the first winter ascent of Jubileumsveggen, a nearly 1,000-meter wall on Store Midtmaradalstind in the heart of Jotunheimen.

1979The First Free Ascent of Rimmon Route in the Troll Wall
In the summer of 1979, Hans Christian Doseth and Ragnhild Amundsen made climbing history by completing the first free ascent of the legendary Rimmon Route in Norway’s Troll Wall.

1979Europe’s First GORE-TEX Jacket: The trollveggen
Introduced in 1979, the first Norrøna trollveggen jacket was built for demanding mountaineering in Norway’s harshest conditions – and became the first GORE-TEX jacket made in Europe.

1980The First Free Ascent of the Swedish Route in the Troll Wall
In the summer of 1980, Hans Christian Doseth, Steve Bancroft, and Chouinard Brooks achieved the first free ascent of the legendary Swedish Route on the Troll Wall.

1994The Everest North Side Expedition

2003The New Collection Names
In 2003, Norrøna introduced a new way of organizing its products by grouping them into collections named after iconic Norwegian destinations, beginning with the narvik collection.

In 2010, Norrøna began a close collaboration with the Norwegian Alpine Rescue Groups, NARG (Norsk Alpine Redningsgrupper).

2010The Red Dot Product Design Award
The new trollveggen Gore-Tex Pro Shell jacket received the prestigious Red Dot Product Design Award, one of the world's leading honors for industrial design.

2023The Youngest Solo Unsupported Woman to the South Pole
Norrøna ambassador Hedvig Hjertaker also made history by becoming the youngest woman in the world to ski solo to the South Pole.
