Review Summary
Updated October 23, 2026

The Senja Light MerinoUll Long Socks are a versatile and comfortable option, primarily recommended for trail running. Reviewers consistently praise their performance in this activity, noting their ability to keep feet warm, provide sufficient length for bushy trails, and offer a comfortable, non-slip fit during runs.

Standout Features: Optimal Fit & Comfort: Users describe the socks as having an "excellent feeling on the foot," being "neither too tight nor loose," and offering "perfect compression" without being overly constrictive. They stay up well during activity and are comfortable due to their lightweight merino material and lack of annoying seams. Temperature Regulation: The lightweight merino wool makes them suitable for warmer temperatures, while still providing warmth when needed. Versatility: Beyond trail running, these socks are also used for advanced hiking trips and ski-touring, indicating their multi-purpose utility. Durability (Mixed Reviews): While one reviewer notes their durability even for "hard trail use and repeated washing," another highlights a significant concern regarding tearing near the ankle after only a few weeks/months of use, particularly when pulling them on.

Common Use-Cases: The most frequently mentioned activity is trail running, with multiple reviewers specifically recommending them for this purpose. They are also suitable for advanced hiking and ski-touring.

Fit and Comfort Level: Generally, the socks are lauded for their comfortable fit, offering good compression without being too tight. They are described as staying up well during activity. However, there's a note that they might run a little small, with one reviewer wearing a 43-44 shoe size finding the 43-45 sock size to be a good, albeit slightly small, fit. The main criticism regarding fit relates to the potential for tearing when pulled on, especially for those with larger feet (size 46), suggesting the largest size might still be too small for some.

Criticisms/Areas for Improvement: The most significant criticism is the durability issue, specifically the tendency to tear near the ankle, particularly for individuals with larger feet. This suggests a potential design flaw or material weakness in that specific area, especially when stretched. Another minor point is the desire for mid-weight or heavyweight versions for winter use.

Conclusion: The Senja Light MerinoUll Long Socks are highly recommended for trail runners seeking a comfortable, well-fitting, and temperature-regulating sock for various conditions. They are also a good option for hikers and ski-tourers looking for a versatile merino sock. This product is ideal for individuals who prioritize comfort and performance in their outdoor activities, particularly those with average to slightly larger foot sizes. However, potential customers with very large feet (e.g., size 46) should be aware of the reported durability issues around the ankle.

Comfortable, but tear easily

This is my second pair I use for running. They are comfortable and stylish - but within just a few weeks/months both pairs have shown a large tear near the ankle from when I pull the sock on and up the leg. I have size 46 feet, which could simply be too big for these socks (I have the largest size socks). But I would company based in the Nordics to produce products that fit us "bigger" persons. All my other running clothes are Senja, and they are all great. The socks, not so much.
