Stories from a life on arctic expeditions, told one slide at a time.
Join Børge Ousland at Norrøna House for an evening of authentic slides and stories from a life spent on arctic expeditions.
For this evening, Børge will open up his personal archive of original slides from his expeditions, sharing the stories, people and moments behind the images.
For more than 30 years, Børge Ousland has carried out pioneering expeditions in the Arctic and Antarctic - expeditions that push the boundaries of what was thought possible. In 1994, he made history's first solo expedition to the North Pole without supplies, and he is the first to cross Antarctica alone.
Before every adventure was instantly captured, edited and shared, expedition stories were told through slide shows. Photographers returned from expeditions with a limited number of 36-exposure rolls, waited for the film to be developed, selected their best images and arranged them into a carousel. Then came the evening itself: the lights went out, the projector started humming, and stories from the mountains came to life on the screen.
There’s something special about seeing these images the way they were originally meant to be seen. The slides capture a different time in arctic expeditions, offering a glimpse into the places, people and experiences behind some of Børges most memorable adventures.
Whether you remember the days of slide shows or have never experienced one before, join us for an evening of original expedition slides
