2006The First Solo Unsupported Expedition to the North Pole

This year, Norwegian polar explorer Børge Ousland completed a solo, unsupported journey to the North Pole, once again demonstrating why he is regarded as one of the greatest polar explorers of the modern era.

Traveling alone across shifting sea ice, battling open leads, pressure ridges, and constantly changing Arctic conditions, Ousland carried all his equipment and supplies himself without outside assistance.

Ousland’s achievement became another milestone in Norwegian polar history and reinforced the enduring connection between exploration, innovation, and the development of equipment capable of performing in the most extreme environments on Earth.
