Our most durable, weather protective and waterproof
jacket for men, developed for all kinds of alpine activities.
The GORE-TEX® Pro fabric is highly breathable, waterproof
and very durable. The Aquaseal® zippers
from YKK® are the most durable zippers on the
market, and 100% water-and windproof. Large X-open
underarm vents can be opened from either direction.
The Storm hood is fitted for a helmet, and the cut of
the jacket permits optimal movement.
The Gore-Tex fabric is 80 Denier.
GORE-TEX® Pro is the most durable fabric technology from GORE-TEX® for outdoor use. The GORE-TEX® membrane uses a woven liner to reduce weight and bulk, enhance moisture transport and minimize abrasion, all while maintaining durable waterproofness. The ultimate storm-protection fabric.
More about GORE-TEX® Pro
Aquaseal® zippers are a recent addition to YKK's watertight and water repellent product line. They are perfect for all sorts of gear where water and air tightness is a must. Smoother and more flexible, they offer optimum protection thanks to the film-coated tape and the innovative zip element mechanism that seal the zipper completely. This is the first truly waterproof zipper provided on Norrøna products.
Washing your GORE-TEX® and dri products will prolong the life of the product. This is how you should wash GORE-TEX® and dri products:
Remember to close all zippers and Velcro. The garment should be washed at 40 degrees, with a mild detergent and no softening or rinsing agents. Do not use bleach. Softeners, rinsing agents and bleaches can damage the fabric’s water-resistant properties (not the membrane/waterproofing) and the color of the fabric. Rinse the garment twice, if possible. Use water repellent spray on the outside of the garment after washing for optimal water-resistance (this has nothing to do with the waterproof quality of the garment, but makes it easier for water to roll off the outer fabric). Dry the garment on a low setting in the dryer, if you like, or iron it at a low temperature. Warmth helps to reactivate the waterproofing. The garment must be dry before washing and before being put away.

At last a waterproof jacketMy last jacket said it was waterproof unfortunately on my last ski holiday I was soaked. I upgraded. I wear it skiing, hiking & paddleboarding. As long as I don't fall off I stay dry.

Expect moreI once had the old version around 3 years ago with the wrong size L, so I sold to my friend, and this year I received the new one sized M, which fits me quite will, I am 178cm and 78KG.
For the cut: significantly alpine cut, roomy , long arms , short in the front and long at the back, articulated and pre-shaped sleeves, huge hood, 2 Napoleon chest pocket, the cut shall among the best on the market available.
The fabric seems to rivise to 80D nylon ripstop, I prefer plain weave (I am not sure if ripstop is more durable but it makes more noise)
But I want something more:
1. The logo for the new version is printed and I prefer embroidery.
2. Although the YKK AQUASEAL may be the best waterproof zip on the market, I still think it's too stiff and too heavy, also it seems to be fragile. I DO think a water resistant VISLON zip is enough.
3. Save the cost from the zip and add 2 hand pocket if possible.

This is the best jacket money can buy! What I like the most about this jacket is that when it is raining and you put on the hoodie, the sound the raindrops make when hitting the Goretex Pro material reminds you of lying in your tent while the rain is pouring down. This jacket is nothing like anything else you can by from competing outdoor brands. The Goretex Pro material is quite stiff, and you really get the feeling that it can sustain anything. Also the waterproff Zippers are very trustable, and the fit is perfect, with a longer bagpiece to keep your lower back dry.

Light weigth, but strongI bought this product for three month ago. I really like the low weight, combined with a strong durable construction of the jacket.
I don´t need to mentioned the colour? ;-) - I really like it!

Extremely high quality, very well-designedBought this jacket 2 years ago along with a similarly priced [competing brand] Alpha AR, both on discount, intending to return the one I liked less - however, I had such a hard time choosing that I ended up keeping both!
The Trollveggen is designed to for more 'heavy duty' use than the Alpha AR, and is more comparable to the Alpha SV (which I also own). It is an expedition fit that will accomodate layers, and length-wise it covers more of my hips than the AR or SV.
The face fabric is a soft, comfortable Gore-tex Pro with a unique speckled texture. It is thicker than the AR, comparable to the SV. Regarding waterproofing, all 3 jackets use Goretex Pro and are all equally water resistant.
The hood of the Norrona is very well designed, with multiple points of adjustment and a moldable wire brim that prevents water from flowing in. Easily accomodates a helmet, as it is designed for.
The cuffs, in particular, I found to be ingenious; I am impressed by the assymmetric cut of the Velcro, which is actually more functional than aesthetic and makes the cuffs very comfortable around my forearms.
Lastly, the big advantage of the Norrona over the other jackets I mentioned is the fully waterproof chest zippers - other jackets use 'water resistant' zippers, and recommend you do not place electronics in them to avoid liability. The Norrona YKK zippers actually seal, similar to a drysuit zipper, and are thus fully waterproof - nice to have that peace of mind!
Overall, I am very impressed with my Trollveggen, and have since actively sought out other Norrona products. The only disadvantages I would say are that it is slightly heavier than some competitors, but this is to be expected given the fully-waterproof zippers and additional length. Bravo!

Zips delaminatedI bought this jacket at the end of 2015. After only light use, the waterproof zips both delaminated at the bottom, leaving two large holes for water to get in (see images). I made a warranty claim through the store I purchased from (LD Mountain Centre in Newcastle, UK). Two weeks after the jacket was sent to a German repair centre (and only after the store made two attempts to find out what was going on), I was told that the jacket wouldn't be fixed, and I would get a refund, with no option to replace, and no apology. As I bought the jacket in the sale, the refund won't cover the cost of a replacement. Not exactly the best experience to have as a first time customer. I very much doubt I'll be buying Norrøna again.
