Our down products use the highest available down quality that we can find, which is a by-product of the food industry (in contrast to being killed just for insulation). Our down comes from the mountains of Pyrenees in France where the birds spend their days outside in a free gazing environment. All treatment of the birds complies with European standards, and the highly specialized washing of the down passes the Oeko-Tex 100 standards. Our down™750 means down fill power from 750 to 800 cu in/oz with the percentage of down cluster from 93–96%.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and pretty I debated a ton between this and the falketind primaloft100 jacket. I ended up getting both so here is the difference: This jacket is definitely warmer. I live in Canada and some days it is down to -10 to -15, even colder when I'm in the mountains. Unless I'm working out hard, like cross country skiing or ski touring, the primaloft 100 isn't warm enough for those cold days. Even for sitting in a hockey rink, watching a game, this is much better for the added warmth. The colour is gorgeous. Other down jackets have made me feel too "puffy" but this one is more forgiving. The arms work well independently of the rest of the jacket so you can be active and not have the entire jacket ride up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic Fit and Function This jacket is very warm and lightweight. I love the fit; the sleeves are long enough, the hood roomy, the back is longer than the front so it doesn't gap when you bend over or squat, and it's fitted enough that it doesn't look too bulky even though it's a puffy jacket. Lots of great little details such as the rolled cuff, chin guard, long zipper on the pockets, adjustable hood, and even extra stitching at the elbow. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is I worry about durability. After only a month of use, it already has a small abrasion on the upper arm where I must have bumped against something, the stitching near the pocket is starting to come loose, and it does lose quite a few small feathers. I hope it holds up because I love this jacket and already can't imagine my life without it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality / Lightweight I purchased the Lyngen lightweight down jacket a few months ago and am quite happy so far. It's perfect for hiking or other outdoor activities. My favorite features is that it easily folds up into the pocket and becomes very compact so it takes up miminal space in my hiking pack. The size runs a little large, but the material is good quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light and Warm This is jacket is physically lightweight but very warm. The color is brighter than I expected, not as neutral navy as I'd hoped. Wish this jacket came in brown, dark green, burgundy (something muted).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good construction, design Stitching, down fill construction are both evidently well-done. The zipper is strong, and the pockets are just the right size and placement on my frame (170cm). Design features (like chin guard, hood drawcord, ruffled and re-inforced arm cuffs) are appreciated. The jacket looks nice around the city and holds up well in a stuff-sack when I am taking it into the back-country. I often ski with it under a simple waterproof hardshell. I find the sizing to run large. EU XS is roomy on my frame and I am normally buy an EU 36/UK 8/US 2 for a roomier fit. I was only unsatisfied with shipping: I purchased the jacket at a discount from an EU dealer and the full price was listed on the packing slip, meaning I paid higher than expected duties & charges. I was later refunded by Customs after submitting proof of payment, but it was a hassle.

Hi, I'm travelling from Australia to Norway this winter and I'm not really used to very cold weather. Would this jacket be warm enough for winter weather? I also want to wear it under the Falketind Gore-Tex Jacket (S) - so which size is best?

Asked by: Fiona
I have a Bitihorn Dri3 jacket in S and it makes a bit too tight combination with a size S Lyngen down jacket. However, I think that Falketind might be slightly more loosely cut. I wouldn't recommend you taking a size XS of the down jacket if S is your size, just to be able to fit it under your shell, for it might be too tight and therefore too cold. As for the suitability for winter weather - quite difficult to say, it all depends on your own "chill factor" and of course the winter temperatures in Norway at the time of your travel. Being from Australia, you probably aren't that used to cold temperatures, so I would suggest you get a jacket with more down. Better to play it safe! I'm a Finn and use the Lyngen all year around, but on winter hikes and skitours (temperatures around -15 --30 degrees Celsius) I always take a heavier, warmer jacket. Hope this helps!

Hi, I just bought the Norrøna Falketind Gore-Tex Jacket in Small and am interested in purchasing this down jacket for layering underneath. Will the lyngen lightweight down750 Jacket in Small fit under the Norrøna Falketind Gore-Tex Jacket in size Small?

Asked by: keren
Personally I believe the answer is yes, though if you're seeking more comfort you may consider to size up w rgds to chosen size of the Gore-Tex.
