Review Summary
Updated September 12, 2026

The Senja Gore-Tex Jacket is primarily recommended for trail running, offering a lightweight, breathable, and waterproof solution for athletes facing diverse weather conditions.

Standout Features: This jacket excels in its lightweight design and exceptional breathability, crucial for high-output activities. It incorporates a rear vent and underarm zips for superior temperature regulation and to minimize internal condensation. The streamlined fit is specifically designed for running, providing excellent freedom of movement, and the fitted hood offers effective protection without impeding vision or catching wind. It's also highly packable, compressing into a compact pouch for easy transport.

Common Use-Cases: While its main strength lies in trail running (including fell running), the Senja Gore-Tex Jacket is also suitable for gravel cycling and serves as a practical everyday rain jacket due to its clean and stylish design. It performs well in various seasons and can handle heavy rain and snow.

Fit and Comfort Level: The jacket offers a streamlined fit that allows for excellent freedom of movement. The hood is well-designed to stay in place even in strong winds. Some users, particularly taller individuals, noted the body and arms might run slightly longer than expected.

Criticisms and Areas for Improvement: Waterproofing Issues: A significant criticism is that the jacket's waterproofing can be inconsistent, with some users experiencing water ingress through the side vents and arms during moderate to heavy rain. This is a notable concern given its Gore-Tex branding and price point. Running Vest Coverage: The back design, while featuring vents, is not oversized enough to fully cover a running vest, which some users found to be a drawback compared to other running jackets. Internal Condensation in Arms: Despite its breathability, some users reported internal water buildup in the arms, especially during intense runs. Minor Design Quirks: Small zipper handles were mentioned, though this also contributes to a silent experience. The watch zipper was deemed unnecessary by one reviewer, and the internal storage pouch for packing the jacket was described as small/tight. Aesthetic Preference: One reviewer expressed a preference for a different zipper color.

Recommendation: This product is highly recommended for dedicated trail runners and athletes who prioritize a lightweight, breathable, and packable jacket for high-output activities in varied weather. It's ideal for those who value freedom of movement and a well-designed hood. However, potential buyers should be aware of the reported inconsistencies in waterproofing, especially if they frequently encounter heavy, prolonged downpours. It's a premium investment, and while it offers many excellent features for its intended use, the waterproofing concerns should be carefully considered.

I bought the jacket a few weeks ago and used it for a trail marathon in the Scottish Highlands. It was very windy and pouring rain, the jacket protected very against both wind and water without overheating.

Great lightweight jacket for trail running

Great jacket for trail running, very light. The back is opened and had couple zippers to facilitate ventilation. It would be great to have the back a little bit oversized, so the running vest can be covered also with the jackets as happens with couple others. In any case, great choice and do not regret at all.

Best lightweight rain jacket on the market.

Super lightweight and breathable rain jacket.. It solves both issues that most rain jackets have for running or activities. The jacket has a rear vent which helps regulate temperature and reduce sweat and condensate on the interior. Also lightweight but really does not sacrifice in function in anyway. I use this in all seasons and even in heavy rain snow without any issue.

Bought this for use as an active rain coat. Hasn’t been able to cope with 10mm rain events. Inside of arms are not water proof. Water comes in on the side vents when zipped up. Gutted on the performance relative to the cost. Had a faletind goretex which was very waterproof compared to this.

Great fit and performance for running in harsh weather

I already own a Gore-Tex Falketind-jacket, which I’ve been very happy with. This Senja-jacket offers many of the same great qualities—it’s waterproof, breathable, lightweight, and has a clean, well-thought-out design. What sets it apart is how well the fit is suited for running. It’s more streamlined, yet still allows excellent freedom of movement. The hood is also more fitted, providing sufficient protection without getting in the way or catching wind while running. The jacket packs down into a compact pouch when not in use, making it easy to carry in a running pack or attach using the included cord. I’ve used it in the rain, and it keeps water out effectively while still breathing well. It also works perfectly as an outer jacket in dry conditions when you need extra protection from wind and harsh weather. Beyond running, it’s a very practical everyday jacket—the design is clean and stylish enough to use as rainwear in daily life. I can also see it working well for activities like gravel cycling. The hood can be packed away neatly when not in use. It’s not a cheap jacket, but considering the quality and versatility, I would definitely say it’s worth the investment.
