Material developer

We are looking for a new member in our material team.

The material developers are part of the design team which consists of designers, patternmaker, seamstress and two material developers. The purpose with the position is to source and develop materials, reassuring that our high quality standards are achieved, maintained and pushed even further.  

Areas of responsibility:

Material sourcing and developing

  • Source and develop materials, fabrics and trims
  • Find innovations and new solutions on a material level
  • Material and quality testing, some made in our own lab
  • Feed and update our PLM systems with relevant information like certifications, commercial terms and test results
  • Color requesting and approval
  • Frequent communication with our vendors/suppliers
  • Create material mood boards and present the findings on a regular basis

General responsibility

  • Responsible for sales support and customer experience operations follow up and reporting in line with our processes
  • Push continuous improvements in our operations
  • Some travel will be required to trade shows
  • Close cooperation and reporting to Design Manager 

Qualifications

  • Strong passion for textile materials and trims
  • You need to love fabrics and be highly curios about the market of textiles
  • High interest and knowledge in functional materials and solutions
  • A great sense of what fabrics are “fit for use” and commerciality
  • Good understanding and experience in use of PLM systems
  • Detail oriented with the ability to deliver on time
  • Methodical, structured and analytical in your approach, combined with a flexible and commercial thinking
  • Must be able to write and speak English at a high level
  • Any textile degree from university level is prioritized, or equal proven knowledge level
  • Prior similar experiences are a plus
  • Co-operative and dynamic, pushing solutions
  • Ability to manage a demanding work load
