Review Summary
Updated March 5, 2026

Here's a cohesive summary of the Lyngen down750 Mittens, designed to inform a potential customer:

The Lyngen down750 Mittens are a lightweight and packable option designed for those who need reliable warmth without bulk. While the previous iteration was praised for its warmth, this "2.0 improved version" addresses earlier concerns regarding durability. The updated design features a seemingly thicker textile and reinforced palms and fingers, suggesting a more robust construction without sacrificing the signature lightness.

Standout Features:

Lightweight and Packable: The primary draw of these mittens is their minimal weight, making them easy to carry and store. Improved Durability: The new version boasts a thicker textile and reinforced palms and fingers, addressing previous concerns about the thinness of the material. Effective Warmth: Despite their light weight, they are designed to provide significant warmth, likely due to the down750 fill.

Common Use-Cases:

While only one review is provided, the context of "mittens" and the focus on lightweight warmth strongly suggest these are ideal for ski touring and similar cold-weather, high-output activities where weight and packability are crucial. The need for reinforcement also points to activities where hands might interact with gear or surfaces.

Fit and Comfort Level:

The review doesn't explicitly detail fit or comfort, but the emphasis on "super light" implies they are designed to be unobtrusive and comfortable during activity.

Criticisms or Areas for Improvement:

The previous version had a "quite thin" textile and lacked reinforcement, which has been addressed in this updated model. Without further reviews, it's difficult to identify new criticisms.

Conclusion and Recommendation:

The Lyngen down750 Mittens are primarily recommended for ski touring and similar cold-weather, high-output activities where lightweight warmth and packability are paramount. The improved durability of this 2.0 version makes them a more reliable choice for those who previously hesitated due to concerns about the material's robustness.

Recommended for: Individuals who prioritize ultralight gear for activities like ski touring, backcountry skiing, or mountaineering, and who need dependable warmth in a packable format. This updated version is particularly suitable for those who want the benefits of down insulation with enhanced durability.

I purchased these as a packable solution to warming my hands on extremely cold backcountry ski days. I am happy to report they are extremely packable, surprisingly durable, and most importantly very warm! I am a huge fan.

I got the older version of these mittens 3-4 years ago, and they work perfectly fine but it is true that you have to take care as the textile is quite thin and they didn’t have much reinforcement. I bought this new version for my father, and the couple weak points are already solved, still super light but textile seems a little bit thicker and more reinforced palm and fingers…so all good!
