lofoten brings you the ultimate, iconic, no-compromise functional product. With dramatic terrain and extreme weather testing your equipment’s limits, you need to withstand the most demanding conditions. Purely technical, highly durable and proudly practical, lofoten places design above anything else. Whether you take a week long tour in the backcountry, hike to your favourite peak, or drop into a heli-ski run, lofoten guarantees to enhance any mountain experience.
North of the Arctic Circle lies the majestic Lofoten archipelago, famous for
its exceptional beauty, harsh contrasting weathers and unyielding environment.
Framed by Alpine-style peaks and glaciers, craggy coastlines, an
age-old cod fishing industry, and surreal light, Lofoten’s extreme elements
are the very essence and soul of Norway’s outdoor life.
Skiing Lofoten is extreme. Not necessarily as in dangerously steep or extremely difficult, but as in extremely close to the ocean, extremely beautiful, extremely exotic and different from all skiing destinations in the world. Unfortunately it is also extremely depended upon the good will of the weather – which obviously can be quite mean this far out in the Arctic Ocean, but never the less more appreciated when on your side.
The skiing starts from pretty much anywhere along the ocean, with skins or snowshoes and the necessary backcountry and safety gear. It shifts gear on the mountain tops, at the most approximately 1000 meters above sea level, and ends up back down where it started, or in the next fjord over. Great seafood, the special atmosphere here, and all the other fantastic outdoor experiences these islands have to offer on land and on water is the complimentary bonus that comes with every ski trip to theese magic islands.
