Autumn on the roof of Norway

Galdhøpiggen in the Jotunheimen massive of Norway, at 2469 meters above sea level, is the highest mountain in Northern Europe, and bears the nickname "Norway's roof". It´s naturally a much visited tourist destination, especially because of its easy acces both to the base and summit, a short and easy hike from the Juvasshytte at 1850moh, on glacier, rock and snow.

Our newly employed material and marketing coordinator Rene Bethmann went with his friends, Øystein Magnus and Atle, to work on his "Norwegianness" by the mandatory trip to the nations pride peak. For extra points they chose an alternative and more challenging route involving some hunderet meters of climbing on the North (NW) side which offers some very scenic rope lengths. At this altitude, King Winter has already begun to prove his presence, making the setting even more beautiful, but adding many hours of duration to their schedule. Finally reaching the top past midnight, Rene was happy with beein step closer to becomming a Viking. Now all he has to do is catch some big salmon with his bare hands, row naked over the Ofot fjord in a wooden boat and make waffle-batter blindfolded. Then he can send in his application to the chief.

congratulations Rene!
